shay elkins.

february 28, 1976 – july 22, 2024.

Shay Elkins gained her “Maleficent Angel Wings” on July 22, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends in her home. She was born on February 28, 1976, and lived her life in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. She courageously fought a relentless battle with cancer and was healed when she entered the gates of Heaven. Shay was married to Eric Elkins for 8 years and together they built a wonderful, blended family and raised six children together; Mel Dies, Seth McCullough married to Victoria McCullough, Tori Kotchenruther married to Nick Kotchenruther, Eric Elkins II married to Stephanie Elkins, Colby Bradshaw married to Chapin Bradshaw, and Sage Bradshaw.

Shay loved her children, but nothing compared to love that Shay and Eric had for their seven grandchildren: Madden, Harlow, Linkin, Ryan, Atreus, Elijah, and Oliva. Shay is survived by not only her loving husband and family, but her mother, Kathy Biller; her father, Mac McCullough; and her brother Michael McCullough married to Staci McCullough and their families. Shay was also a member of the Life Center Church located in Greencastle, Pennsylvania. The members of this Church became family as they shared their love and support with Shay through her spiritual journey.

Shay loved her family more than life itself and was always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She was a selfless person that got her fuel for life by helping those she loved and her community. Shay worked at the Fulton County Family Partnership for 20 years. During this time, she was instrumental in establishing the Community Outreach Prevention Education (COPE) Program in 2005 and later became its heart and soul. Shay was a tireless advocate for the families that she worked with and had a passion for healing others. She has touched the lives of countless individuals that all became a part of who she was. Shay worked diligently to expand the COPE Program to what it is today, by supporting students in our community schools, families in need, and addressing family addiction issues through the support of various recovery programs. Shay was a monumental leader and an inspiration not only to the families she worked with but to the community and her family as well. Shay had a faith in God that radiated from her smile, personality and work that she did.

Shay loved to go on vacation with her family to her favorite places, Disney and numerous beaches. She loved traveling in and out of the country and this enthusiasm led her to create her own travel company, E & S Travel. She enjoyed sharing her love of exploring and traveling with her clients and friends as she was known as one of the best agents in the area.

Shay has touched so many lives and we will all be forever grateful. She will be sorely missed and forever loved.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Life Center, 35 N. Carlisle Street, Greencastle, PA 17225.
