On December 10, 2021 Olukemi Kuku died at MD Anderson after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 61 years old.

Olukemi Kuku is survived by her husband Abiodun Kuku, her children, Tobi, Ayo, Ayo’s girlfriend, Jordan, Tumi, and Son-in-Law Albert; and siblings Mrs. Biodun Makinde, Mrs. Yemi Akinmade, Mr. Soji Omole, and Mr. Ba yo Omole. She was preceded in death by Babatunde and Yinka Omole.

Olukemi was born on August 20, 1960, in London, United Kingdom. She graduated from the following institutions: University of Lagos, Nigeria with a Bachelor of Arts and Master’s in of Philosophy in English in 1989, Excelsior College, Albany, New York, United States with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011, and Excelsior College, Albany, New York, United States Nursing with an MSN in Nurse Education in 2018.

Olukemi married Abiodun Kuku in 1982. They were recommended to each other by a mutual friend (Professor Adefuye) who taught at the University of Lagos at the time Olukemi’s attendance. They welcomed Tobi in in 1985, Ayo in 1990, and Tumi in 1996. Olukemi enjoyed praising and worshipping Jesus, encouraging those around her, and serving the community through her expertise in Nursing. She was a great wife, loving, mother, generous aunty, and most loyal friend. She was known as an outstanding scholar and teacher at the University of Louisiana in Monroe. Those who knew her would describe her as hard working, compassionate, and generous to all.

The memorial service for Olukemi Kuku was scheduled for 2:00pm at House of Prayer International in Monroe, La. The family asks that donations be sent to MD Anderson in the fight against Cancer in lieu of flowers. Donations can be sent via the link: http://mdacc.convio.net/goto/kemikuku

She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness…a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised.
