community

last week i was given the opportunity to attend a retreat for women with mbc (metastatic breast cancer) here in houston. y’all, i am so thankful i was able to go; the retreat was amazing. all in all, it only lasted about 24 hours but spanned across two days. the retreat was held at the houstonian hotel (just call me fancypants), and we were invited to bring someone. how awesome is that?! of course, i brought momma and we had a blast.

there were an intimate amount of us who attended, some ladies from my support group and some new faces. it was awesome to meet in person and see one another in 3d, versus a computer screen. we fellowshipped, discussed an array of topics, had some awesome presenters, a fun art therapy project, and ate like queens!

there is nothing like being in the company of individuals who all share the same diagnosis. we may all be in different places in our journey, but this horrendous thread that binds us all provides a comfort that is difficult to explain. none of us asked to be in this fraternity, but we all have damned sure been hazed. the tie that binds is real af.

that’s it. that’s the post. i am beyond thankful and blessed to have you all in my village. community is so important y’all. this world is so damned big. and our problems can seem like mountains that we have to climb alone. there isn’t anything in this life that you have to endure by yourself. i encourage you to find your people, your faith, and to lean on one another. it really makes all the difference.

fin.

ps….it’s not too late to donate to this year’s boot walk! i’m sooo close to my goal!
