let’s talk updates.
recent scans have been fine. my current treatment plan is still working. so, everything on the cancer front is stable. thank you for your consistent prayer. it definitely works.
a side effect of my medication to treat the bone metastasis can be effed up teeth. so i have to be very careful with dental care. since my diagnosis i started grinding my teeth and also have noticed that they have started to spread more. i have a mouth guard for the grinding but that’s about it. and im not the best about using it.
well about a month ago, i was watching tv and chewing gum…i know, a deadly combination…and whadyaknow, my crown breaks in half right into my gum.
a dentist and endodontist visit later and it was determined that i needed a root canal before the crown was replaced. onj (osteonecrosis of the jaw) is a common side effect of my medication. it’s basically deterioration of the jaw bone. a few of my group members are dealing with it right now. so, yeah not fun at all.
last monday was d(entist) day and i am not too cool to admit that i was scared. now, i was not getting any teeth pulled so realistically i should have been completely fine. but y’all i was legit frightened. my blood pressure was high as hell. and i was in that endodontist’s office terrified. i mean silent tears and all. but i made it through. then i had to follow that appt up with the crown a couple of hours later. thankfully, made it through that one too.
well, its sunday morning and although my jaw is still a little sore, the swelling has gone down a bit everyday and it’s almost gone completely.
fin.
