ok, so you know the drill. let’s talk cancer…

i had a follow-up today with my oncologist re: my back pain. she thinks it’s all menopausal and is really pleased with my scans as of late. she asked me to try heating pads for a couple of weeks and see if that helps. and just a while ago brock hit me up and sent an amazon link for a chair cushion that is both a massager and a heating pad — and on sale. half off. already purchased it. let’s hope it helps. my onc ordered more blood tests since my levels were out of whack on the last ones. more good news. i got a “much better” note from her on both reports. so i’m back on the right side of things. my nurse navigator also stopped in to say hi. haven’t been in the same room for a long time. it was good to see her in person for a change.

another take away from today — and this one is pretty great but also i’m still processing. she said, that come january, after another PET, if theres still no progression — it might be time to go to mda for another second opinion and meet with a surgeon regarding a lumpectomy or masectomy.

y’all. this is like a big deal. if you recall, i was diagnosed, then speed walked through the steps — chemo, surgery, radiation, cosmetic, then post-cancer life.

once my staging went to iv, surgery was taken off the table. i went through all of the emotions. i had already mentally prepared for how things would go, and how we would get through this. said my goodbyes to my breasts, sayonaras to the fat cells and bonjours to a notmommy makeover. then bam. the wrench: no surgery. no post cancer life. time for the marathon and maintaining q-o-l. so i dug-in, processed, and changed course.

only now, here we are again. another wrench to process. definitely not complaining. just rebalancing so i can ride this new wave.
