how do you pray?

how do you pray? where did you learn? how has it evolved over the years? these are the things i think about, more now than ever before.

i was talking to my dad the other day and he mentioned that he is a strong believer in what he calls “blessings by association.” when he prays for you, he’s praying that you and the people who you are associated with receive blessings from God. your co-workers, friends and even their friends and associates are included. even people you do not like or particularly care for are also blessed by association.

the more i hear him talk about it, the more it stays on my mind. what a beautiful concept. how awesome is that? that even if you are not on someone’s defined prayer list, that you are still being prayed for? and so are the people in your orbit.

short post. just passing on what’s been heavy in my mind.

a jam…

Good Morning Anna and Your beautiful love village. This post is powerful. Your Dad’s words about blessing by association are powerful.

    My thoughts…
    a) how do you pray?
How I pray depends on the moment. Sometimes it’s structured, other times it’s whatever is on my heart. I try to show up just as I am and rest assured God will meet me.

    b) where did you learn?
    Parents, church and friends

    c) how has it evolved over the years?
As the years progress, I believe that the praise part of my prayer has increased as well as my faith and closeness with God. The evolution is perpetual.

Hey!! So I feel you on everything you said. I definitely am not confident about the “way” I pray. I feel like I don’t pray “right” but I also understand that’s mostly because I’m comparing myself to others and I know I have to stop doing that shit and just be me. It’s a process 🤓

        Just. Be. YOU.

You are sufficient. You are enough. Praise God!

    Isaiah 32;15-18
15 Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, And the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, And the fruitful field is counted as a forest. 16 Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, And righteousness remain in the fruitful field. 17 The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever. 18 My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation, In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.

I just learned the by association last week through these verses in Isaiah. The Spirit is poured on us but affects everything around it as well. Praying for me has changed(and continues to) over the years. Went from reciting what I thought was expected to talking to the only bestie that really knows and understands me throughout the day. Hes been amazing in showing just how close He really is to us and how much He really loves us. Reading His word is a huge part of it for me. I cant tell you specific chapters and verses like some people can but theres so much that has stayed in me and comes back up when needed the most. I’ve also taped verses that I love or need to see as reminders around random places in my house and its been couple years where i stick to having stations like Klove or the message from Sirius xm on. I’m the toughest judge on myself so surrounding myself with constant reminders of what’s true, good, noble, full of love keeps bringing me back to what I need to focus on. I had no idea what was going on with you but I’ll def be praying and keeping up with what you share here. Hugs!
