ok y’all i promise i am going to do this more regularly. i really miss talking to all of you. today was my 3rd xgeva shot and my first PET scan, yay.. i know…i really didn’t know that was a real thing, but yes PET not CAT. so many jokes back there but i’m flying above.

im pretty much a pro at this point with the scans. this is my new normal and i am trying to warm up to it…i mean as much as anyone really can warm up to cancer, i guess.

so back to the scan it was pretty much ho hum – normal stuff. i get shot with something, then i lay on a table while people look at my innards. i get my disc, i leave. it was later in the day that the “fun” happened. so sometime after the scan, i think in the evening for dinner, i was at teresa and marvin’s and i get the alert from mychart that my test results are in. now i tried to look at the scans, but these were unlike the others…i mean i could see stuff, but i didn’t know wtf i was looking at so i made a mental note to call bridget and look at them with her. so when this alert came in i logged in and read the notes.

y’all…i shit you not, this is word-for-word what the doctor’s notes said…

1. improving left breast mass. mild uptake could be inflammation.

2. numerous bone lesions on CT, mostly without uptake suggesting successfully treated disease. mild uptake is present in a large lesion with pathological fracture in T10, most likely representing post-traumatic and/or post-treatment inflammatory uptake

3. cyst in ovary

will call you tom. overall very good PET

i called bridget immediately. did you catch it?

i.

dont.

have.

ovaries.

at least i’m not supposed to have any…what does this mean?

imma need my oophorectomy refund ret now. with interest.

so now im really bugging. i talked to my doctor the next day and she schedules an ultrasound. we gotta figure this shit out immediately.

now i’ve had a million ultrasounds over the years and this one was no different. and apparently, there aren’t any ovaries afterall,

so back to the PET scan…i’m told it was good things. the radiation/chemo combo did what it was supposed to do. the tumor in my breast is softer and smaller.

next up…

Anna, I’m thankful for the positive results in the midst of the confusion about the ovary. I know it can be quite frustrating to receive information about your body that makes NO SENSE. But you are a trooper. I and my family and friends continue to keep you lifted in prayer. “God is ABLE to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think.”
