so, the sunday before my birthday, there was a parade.
y’all. threw. me. a. fucking. parade….
and it was awesome. and i was surprised. and i felt the love.
i struggle to find the words. it was amazing. and y’all are the best. thank you to everyone who came to make my day special. thank you to those who would’ve come had they known, thank you to those who couldn’t come but wanted to. just thank you. my heart is full.
can i tell y’all that big ass sign was in my yard all day, and i had no clue! captain oblivious, that’s me.
also at 2:39 did y’all see my momma damned near fall out the car yelling?!! she was so happy, it was so cool. even my dad had posters on his car, just wow. there were people who participated that i hadn’t seen since high school and college.
also, i’m sure my neighbors were highly annoyed. there were so many of you. it was just wonderful.
i hate i couldn’t hug every one of you who came. twenty-twenty, the year of the covid sucks like that. but also i think it’s not so bad in that we have found ways to show up for the people we care about that we haven’t before. the smallest of gestures are now amplified. the impact of which is immeasurable.
